I believe a lot of comments on social media, especially YouTube are bots that demoralize the un-PC commenters with ad hominem attacks.
I think that is were I noticed it enmass too. During the lockdowns on comments within Scamdemic news articles.
The personality always comes through. Be it humour, satire, empathy, sympathy or just banter the AI can't do it.
