Bambie Thug. As Usual, the Irish Establishment Catch on Badly 45 Years too late

Honestly, as someone who grew up on The Virgin Prunes, Nina Hagen and Siouxsie and Banshees a part of me wanted to like this, and indeed some parts of the song are interesting. But it is nothing we did not see on Grafton Street in Dublin back in the early 80s. It is only ‘groundbreaking’ because of the already tired old Pride nonsense dovetailed into it. Which is about as mainstream now as one can get. If anything, Bambie Thug represents a symbol of how Western culture has been killed more than she and what she represents are ‘cutting edge’.

Naturally the Irish Establishment and NPCs are being told to adore Bambie Thug. As she is ‘challenging norms’ within their clueless existences and ticks all the Current Thing worn out cliches and platitudes.

Meanwhile in Ireland something really authentic and cutting edge from the very early 80s. When it was actually ground-breaking. When it was an authentic statement, and when it actually meant something.

When all is said and done; Bambie Thug is just Twink for the grandchildren of the people who were into Twink when the Virgin Prunes were exploding out of Ballymun.
