The Forgotten Art of Minding Your Own Fucking Business
When Twitter Likes Become the Defacto Means of Irish Diplomacy
I am a great believer in minding my own business. I have no desire to seek out trouble for myself in situations where I have no personal skin in the game one way or the other. While I might find one side of a conflict preferable to another, I still won't get directly involved. None of my business. I have my own world to take care of.
Especially when one side has serious levels of power and influence and you do not need to piss them off. Imagine there were two families in a neighborhood miles away caught up in a fight and you made it your business to get involved in this conflict. Then find yourself shocked that the side you took umbrage with, then comes around with another bigger gang they have (on their side) and sorts your meddling backside out.
Welcome to the incomprehensible shitshow that is the Irish government's foreign policy.
Today is the day the Bio Tech and Big Pharma sectors end in Ireland. Netanyahu is in Washington right now and we are looking at very low tariffs between the USA and Israel (20% Ireland's biggest rival in the sector). That's it, game over. What is not moving back to the USA is now going to Israel.
Never mind, just call Trump a 'gowel' a little louder for more middle class infantile chuckles once again, open another Hamas embassy, call Conor MacGregor a 'rapist' louder this time, delight in more “great ethnic food” as an excuse for more IPAS centers, call Elon Musk a 'Nazi', perhaps a new series of Clarity on RTE, and most certainly do not forget to employ the midget O'Higgins to compare Gaza to the SS Death Camps at a Holocaust event.
Who needs intelligent diplomatic positions—for the sake of keeping Ireland in business as a nation—when Irish politicians are more interested in social media likes and hearts?
Game over Lovely Men of the Irish Establishment. This time there is nowhere for Paddy to flee and you have to share the social welfare with the 'New Irish'. Oh, and as someone whom you called ‘Far Right’ and ‘Racist’ when I am neither…go to hell if you think you’ll get any sympathy from me.
Brilliantly succinct.
BRILLIANT! As always your examples and analogies are spot on. It is stunning to watch the insanity and stupidity to leaders around the world. Minding your own business… advice my parents gave me… when I’ve stuck to it - that advice has served my well.
