The war should never have happened. Unbelievable that the EU countries didn't see the ensuing consequences. Ukraine is utterly corrupt and culturally is not a European country. To believe that Putin would accept NATO and EU membership of Ukraine beggars belief. It has a significant ethnic Russian minority. To push the NATO border right up against a country that has lost 20 million people in WW2...that is insanity. What where they expecting?? Russia is what it is and likely will be for a very long time. Ukraine will need to learn to solve its own problems, learn to manage its relationships both with its history and its geopolitical environment.

Europe has shown itself to be utterly incompetent.

The EU army? They couldn't organise a piss up in a brewery. Too many different cultures and opinions to show a united front with a common objective.

Trump is right to pull up stumps and go home!

It's the only way Europe can hope to grow up

Thomas I've been looking up the history of Ukraine and the lands there have been predominantly slavic people. The borders of present day Romania and Poland have shifted with renaming of the various principalities and kingdoms in that region. The Crimea has had wars for hundreds of years. The Austrian-Hungarian Empire, has had a big influence on the historical aspect to this. So really these disputes predate 2nd World War, First World War: the Russians aren't going anywhere. Kate Bush, sang about this, in "Army Dreamers", never give up the youngsters (cannon fodder) for old men wars.
