There is a huge difference between personal conviction and religious conviction. The latter state wasn’t derived from within ones intellect or cognition. Being a mindless follower takes no brains.

Far from this being a tiny segment of society; these unhinged, hysterical, intolerant and hate filled knuckle-scrapers represented an uncomfortably high percentage of the population who were not deemed ‘far right conspiracy theorists’ for the unspeakable crime of wishing to manage one’s own healthcare options within a framework of personal liberty and freewill. Something the media, politicians and bureaucrats were only to happy to remove from us. In the interest of something called the greater good.

It wasn’t that long ago that the Flagellants of the Branch Covidian sect were demanding Zero Covid or we must never open up society ever again. Zero Covid was something akin to the evangelical churches who want to baptize all of humanity so Jesus will come back sooner. You probably had them in your own family, workplace or friendship circle. However, as these archetypal semi-sentient carbon units have told us in the past. They were just “following orders”. Or rather ‘trusting the science’ delivered from the mouths of Dolly Parton, or The Kaiser Chiefs bullying their audience members who did not worship Big Pharma CEOs as if they were gods, and of course, Eastenders’ poor acting.
